ASeTTS receives a large number of requests for student placements and research projects from WA, interstate and internationally from a wide range of disciplines including psychology, social work, rehabilitation counselling, occupational therapy, art therapy, youth work and community development.
All requests for placements/research must come in writing from the University and/or TAFE teacher/academic supervising the student.

Placement opportunities at ASeTTS are limited. We generally have many more requests from students than there are places available and most people will be disappointed because we have limited places.
Interested students should ask their supervisor or course coordinator at least two months before their proposed placement to write to the Coordinator of Research and Training. Include details of proposed placement such as dates and length of placement. A current CV of the student should also be sent.
If there are places available ASeTTS will arrange a meeting (interview) with you to discuss the placement in-depth. Please bring copies of your proposal and academic record to the meeting. If after these discussions, both you and ASeTTS wish to proceed with the placement/research, official arrangements need to be made with your university or TAFE college.
Please note that all successful students must provide a copy of a recent National Police Certificate (must be less than 2 years old) and Working with Children Check to ASeTTS before beginning their placement. ASeTTS will not pay students for placements.
All students must have a current Police Clearance. Some students may be required to have a current Working with Children check (depending on the nature of the placement).
The skills, experiences and interests that may assist a student in gaining a placement at ASeTTS include:
Please note that ASeTTS decision is final and due to the volume of requests there is no appeals process.
