ASeTTS staff and volunteers are drawn from a wide range of backgrounds. This page provides brief information on our Board of Management and Staff.
Janet is head of one of the largest private companies in Australia yet makes the time to assist the community in so many ways. She was awarded the Order of Australia in 1995 as a tribute to her work in business, arts and community. She has chosen to work with ASeTTS because of her commitment to refugees and is particularly concerned about Temporary Protection Visa holders who continue to live with uncertainty. Her values of peace, tolerance, respect for every individual and the importance of family and employment are tightly aligned to ASeTTS vision and mission.
ASeTTS will definitely benefit from her compassion, networking ability at all levels and first class business competencies.

Professionally Ann Zubrick has had a long engagement with both health and education.
Qualified in both speech pathology and lifespan developmental psychology, over her career she has established and led a range of educational programs and clinical services in Western Australia and several Asian countries.
Currently, in addition to some teaching, she runs a small business that assists individuals, organisations and communities as they adjust to the changing work and social landscapes encountered in the second half of life.
Dr Zubrick has served on several boards and committees-including the Western Australian Department of Housing and Works; Therapy Focus; a large Symphonic Choir (in which she also sings); and the Council of three independent schools.
Currently she also serves on the Board of COTA (WA); the Brightwater Care Group and The Friends' School, Hobart.
Dr Zubrick was seconded to the Board of ASeTTS at the start of 2009.
Udo is an Information Technology professional and Electrical Engineer with 30+ years experience in technical and management roles in the Oil & Gas Industry, WA Government and Engineering/Manufacturing. He has lived and worked in Germany, South Africa and Western Australia. Udo is also a Board member of the Rotary Club of Heirisson (International Director) and has a long history of volunteering with ASeTTS.
Kenny Annand established KGA Consulting in October 2004 after spending five years as Director, Corporate Services with Brightwater Care Group. He now provides strategic advice and planning assistance to the aged care sector in the areas of strategic planning, business development, capital projects benchmark analysis, and process improvement, Kenny has extensive experience in development analysis, feasibility assessment, facility design and development and project management. Kenny is an experienced executive in the field of health services management with extensive international and domestic experience in planning, development and corporate management of large service organisations. As well as Aged Care, Kenny's 25 years of experience spans healthcare, local government, tertiary education, retail banking and insurance. Kenny is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and currently holds the positions of Board Chairman of the Australian Institute of Urban Studies in Western Australia and Board Treasurer of the Association for Services to Trauma and Torture Survivors (ASeTTS).
Gary has completed several courses of study in Accountancy, Business Administration, Sales and Marketing and Real Estate. He is also a Commissioner for Declarations. Gary has enjoyed a 40 year career in Sales & Marketing developing business relationships within the corporate sector for several employers principally in the West Australian financial services business community. Roles held included State Manager for a Telecommunications company both in WA and NSW, Company Director, Business Development Manager and Sales Executive. This career followed a 2 year stint in the Armed Services with the Royal Australian Artillery that included service in South Vietnam.
Gary Redmond joined the Rotary Club of Heirisson in 1990 as a founding member and has served in numerous roles for the Club and Rotary District 9450. Highlights for Gary was his year as President in 1993 and attendance at the World Conference in Brisbane. His Rotary service has been recognised by being awarded the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow.
Gary is Chairman of the Healing Hearts Foundation and member of the Consortium to build a Garden of Reflection in Kings Park. He is also General Manager of Z Special Unit International (Inc). This not for profit organisation was the forerunner to what is known today as the SAS.
Gary is married to Marge (since 1970) and during this time have been blessed with two children Scott (dec'd) and Kelly. Kelly is married with two children.
Gary is a keen sports fan and has memberships with the following clubs: The West Australian Golf Club; West Coast Eagles Football Club; Marmion Angling & Aquatic Club; North Beach Bowling Club.
Norma is Adjunct Professor in the Office of the Vice Chancellory Curtin University of Technology. She has over 20 years experience in the Government school system and the Curriculum Council. She has extensive knowledge of issues in education and training, particularly those related to students for whom English is a second language and disadvantaged groups such as torture and trauma survivors. She has provided high level advice and technical expertise to four Ministers, the Director General and other Corporate Executive members on state and national policy, legislative reporting requirements and accountability frameworks. She has served on many boards and committees including Curtin University of Technology Governing Council (Senate), Campus and Community Life Advisory Group: Curtin University, Asia Education Foundation Board (National), the Curriculum Corporation Values Education Study Advisory Committee (VESAC), the Australian Children's Television Foundation and the Public Education Endowment Trust.
ASeTTS employs around 30 full-time equivalent staff and are also grateful for the support of a further 90 volunteers.
ASeTTS staff are all experienced professionals with formal qualifications in psychology, social work, counselling, the social sciences or administration. Ongoing professional development and supervision ensures staff are up to date with current trends and able to provide professional and relevant services for our clients.
The day to day management of ASeTTS is overseen by the Acting Director, Renay Grech, who with a team of managers form the Directorate to ensure that staff and clients receive the best possible support.
Renay has worked in the Welfare sector since 1977 in diverse fields such as disability, child protection, residential care, victimology, family violence and trauma. He has been employed at ASeTTS since January 2007 and has managed the employment services, the IHSS trauma and torture service, United nations contract, counselling services and complex case management program. He holds degree qualifications in Management, Social work and Counselling.
Karen joined ASeTTS in January 2005. Karen's previous employment included sales, administration, export, customer service and product development. Over ten years of working in a financial analysis, project management and administration background ensures that Karen can effectively manage ASeTTS day to day financial and administration needs.
Anita is a Registered Psychologist, currently working towards her Clinical specialization and completing her PhD (Psychology). She has work experience in the following fields: Drug / alcohol counseling, domestic violence, forensic psychology, cross-cultural counseling, community-based work, and work with youth. Anita also enjoys jazz, fishing and cloud gazing.
Amanda Gillett joined ASeTTS as Community Programs Manager in May 2006. Amanda has a Bachelor of Arts (Social and Political Theory, Murdoch); a Post Graduate Diploma in English (Curtin University of Technology); and a Masters of Public and Development Management (University of the Witwatersrand). She has worked in WA in both the government and non-government sectors in the areas of youth affairs and employment and training. From 1993 - 2006 she lived in South Africa initially working in the non-government sector (youth and international education) before taking up a position with AusAID developing and managing programs in the areas of community development, gender based violence and HIV/AIDS.
